Lisbon has many playgrounds to explore - they're free, fun and located outdoors and indoors. Some are smaller and found within various neighborhoods, while others are larger and offer more opportunities for extended visits and activities.

Jardim da Estrela is a public garden spanning 4.6 hectares, with several entrances, the main ones located at the end of Avenida Pedro Álvares Cabral and leading to Largo da Estrela (near Basílica da Estrela). The garden features two children's playgrounds (one with sand), a restaurant, a kiosk with a terrace, an iron bandstand dating back to 1884 and a lake. It is also home to various resident birds, including mallards, swans, geese and peacocks. While there is no designated picnic area, the garden has plenty of grassy spaces suitable for picnics.

Jardim da Parada, also known as Jardim Teófilo Braga or Jardim de Campo de Ourique, is a public garden covering 0.4 hectares, ideal for both children and parents. It features a kiosk with a terrace, a bandstand and public bathrooms. Nearby, there are numerous restaurants and cafés where you can grab a snack or have lunch, as well as shops for a bit of browsing. The garden is equipped with two small lakes and a children's playground, making it a great spot for family outings.

Jardim do Príncipe Real is situated in a charming Lisbon neighborhood and features a small children's playground, though it can often be crowded. The park includes several kiosks and a restaurant with a terrace, providing great spots for snacks and relaxation.

Looking for space and tranquility? Visit Parque José Gomes Ferreira (10 ha), also known as Mata de Alvalade, an excellent spot for relaxation in Lisbon, featuring a densely wooded area with plenty of native vegetation. The park has two picnic areas equipped with tables and drinking fountains.

There are two entrances: one in Alvalade (Rua Alferes Malheiro 1) and another on Av. Almirante Gago Coutinho (near Rotunda do Relógio). The most direct access to the children's playground is from Av. Almirante Gago Coutinho. Right next to the playground, you'll find a kiosk called Esplanada da Mata, offering music, food, and drinks.

A hidden gem for kids in Lisbon that you shouldn't miss is Parque Moinhos de Santana. If you’re visiting with babies, bring a baby carrier for easier navigation. If you don't have one, a stroller is a great option as well, thanks to the park's accessible paths, though be ready for some slopes.

Located in the Ajuda neighborhood, just 1.5 km from Mosteiro dos Jerónimos and 600 m from Jardim Botânico D'Ajuda & Estufa Real, this park offers plenty of open space, grassy areas, and a duck pond. The cafeteria/restaurant is open, and you can enjoy mini-golf (with gear available on-site).

The park also features a picnic area, a skate park, a skating rink, and a playground. Make sure to visit the picturesque windmills and take in the view from the scenic lookout point.

Be ready to spend a couple of hours here. A very popular (and public) playground with 5.6 ha in the middle of the Monsanto Forest Park with a multiplicity of activities - has activities for babies and toddlers and also for the grown ups (from 6 to to 12 years old). Here you'll find a big lake, a picnic area, a circuit with crosswalks, traffic lights and traffic signs (need to rent a bike, roller blanding or scooters? talk to us), a labyrinth, several Indian tents and playgrounds for different ages. Don't miss the viewpoint with a privileged view over the city.

Parque Recreativo do Alvito is a well-loved recreational park located in Lisbon’s Monsanto Forest Park, often referred to as the city's “Green Lung.” This family-friendly space is particularly designed for children, offering ample playground areas and activities suitable for various age groups. It features slides, swings, and climbing structures, as well as picnic spots, making it perfect for a day out with young kids. The park is surrounded by lush greenery, creating a peaceful setting for parents to relax while their children play. Additionally, Parque do Alvito includes shaded areas and small kiosks where visitors can grab snacks, adding to the comfort and convenience of a visit.

This is a paid park designed for kids aged 4 to 9, offering a fun and safe environment for them to play, jump, and explore. The entire area is fenced and supervised by an experienced team of monitors. It features a variety of activities, including inflatables, tree climbing, a climbing wall, a painting studio, pedal karts, and a "string spider" to climb. Parents can enjoy a comfortable outdoor area and relax on a terrace with a cafeteria called "Casa Verde." This park ensures both kids and parents have an enjoyable experience.
